removal from sandwich panels

Graffiti and other paint marks don't just spoil the overall appearance of a building. They also pose a problem for the owner - "What should I use to remove them? “

The most important questions are:

• is it possible to return the surface to its original appearance (finish, colour)?
  
• will the substrate be damaged?
  
• could the damage be made worse?
  
• will the substrate retain its properties?
• will smears appear or remain on the surface?
  
• is the cleaning product easy to use, environmentally friendly and economical?
  

In order to provide answers to these questions, Hoesch Siegerlandwerke and PSS Interservice GmbH carried out a series of tests.

Before:

A sandwich panel with a microprofiled surface and covered with a 25y thick coil coating of polyester (SP) paint base was marked using a car paint spray and left for four weeks to allow weathering.

The panel was then cleaned using AR 8000 graffiti remover applied with a cloth.

The result: The marks were removed easily, no damage had been done to the substrate and the surface emerged clean and smear-free.

This also showed that sandwich panels with a coil coated surface do not require preventive measures to protect them against graffiti.
